Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group in Whitby, ON is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to provide front-line triage, support treatments, and assist veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced emergency setting. You'll play a pivotal role in patient care from triage to treatment, with ongoing growth opportunities in anesthesia, ultrasound, and advanced procedures.

Position is full-time and onsite at our Whitby hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in an accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software/EMR.

Responsibilities

• Triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, veterinary care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, oxygen support).
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with veterinarians and technicians.
• Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
