Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Underground Electrician to join the Detour Lake Mine team. The role reports to the Underground Mine Maintenance Electrical Supervisor and focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical systems in an active underground environment.

The position requires at least two years in mining, with HV transformer/switchgear experience preferred. A 14/14 rotation is common, with on-site accommodations, meals, and transportation provided as part of the

• Minimum of two years practical mining experience.
• High voltage transformer and switchgear experience preferred.
• Able to work outdoors and at heights in remote site conditions.
• Experience at remote work sites is a plus.
• Strong safety ethic and work attitude.

Responsibilities

• Understand motor control logic and MCC (600V), DC motor control.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation: temperature, pressure, tachometer.
• Understand PLC logic and perform troubleshooting.
• Maintain equipment rated 24V to 13.8kV.
• Use voltmeter, megger and ammeter for diagnostics.
• Report safety issues and promote health and safety culture.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Underground Mine Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, you will be part of the Underground Maintenance Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Understanding of motor control logic and MCC (600V), DC motor control (static drive) and AC drives;
• Basic instrumentation troubleshooting (temperature sensor, pressure sensor and tachometer);
• Understanding of PLC logic and providing troubleshooting activities as required;
• Maintain equipment rated for 24 volt to 13.8KV;
• Use of various tools such as: voltmeter, megger and ampere meter;
• Ensure that safety issues are reported to the supervisor and promptly remedied;
• Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Minimum of two years practical work experience within the mining sector;
• High voltage transformer and switchgear experience is preferred;
• Ability to work and be exposed to the elements (Working at heights, outdoor working environment);
• Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset;
• Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14/14 rotation preferred; 7/7 rotation may be considered;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
