Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Electrical & Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer to join our Construction team, based in Bethune, SK. The Electrical & Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer (FE) will ensure that construction activities meet design intent by working with the design team, plant operations, the owner, and construction to ensure work meets design requirements.

Bantrel is working with K+S Potash (KSPC) as part of the Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) to expand the Bethune Potash Mine from 2.2 to 3.0 million tonnes per annum over the next 5 years, with a long-term goal of reaching 4 million tonnes per year. Key personnel will support the project from Saskatoon and Bethune, with additional support from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. {NTD: Site hours / shift rotation options required from project}

This position is based in Bethune, Saskatchewan, with a Monday to Thursday schedule of 10-hour shifts.

Relocation & Living Out Allowance

Preference will be given to candidates residing locally. For preferred candidates residing within Canada, relocation assistance or a living out allowance (LOA) may be available, subject to eligibility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure construction aligns with design, quality, and progress standards.
  • Review subcontractor submittals and coordinate cross-discipline input.
  • Support development of procedures, including brownfield-specific protocols.
  • Lead coordination for tie-ins and interface management.
  • Conduct field inspections, sign check sheets, and verify contractor progress.
  • Perform quality audits and document findings.
  • Participate in progress, quality, and safety meetings.
  • Prepare field sketches and specify temporary facility requirements.
  • Execute walkdowns, manage punch lists, and verify closure.
  • Review turnover documentation and installed quantities.
  • Manage TQs, FCNs, FCRs, and NCRs through to resolution.
  • Communicate and coordinate design changes with construction and EoR.
  • Maintain project data systems and generate required reports.
  • Confirm maintenance and inspection of electrical/instrumentation systems.
  • Support constructability, risk, and safety-in-design reviews.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet project KPIs and deadlines.
  • Mentor team members and promote a collaborative, safety-first culture.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • A professional Engineering license valid in Saskatchewan is an asset.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant construction/field experience in electrical within multi-discipline EPCM/EPC projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality management, ISO standards, and auditing processes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and engineering practices, including 3D data platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Motivated team player with leadership qualities.
