Job summary

Discovery Silver Corp. in Timmins, Ontario, is seeking Electrical Engineering students for a 12-month co-op starting this Winter.

Based at the Kidd Operations mine site, you will report to Maintenance Engineering and contribute to a ventilation automation project alongside cross-functional teams. The role requires enrollment in an engineering program, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a background in Automation or EE applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general office tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

Discovery’s Kidd Operations has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Co-op.

The Position:

Located in Timmins, Ontario, Kidd Operations consists of Mine and Concentrator sites focused on developing and sustaining economic mining plans for its ore body. The mine extends to a depth of 3.01 km (9,889 ft), making Kidd the world’s deepest base-metal mine.

Kidd Operations is now accepting resumes from Electrical Engineering students for co-op placements (12-months) beginning this Winter or as soon as possible.

Based at our mine site, the chosen candidates will report to the Maintenance Engineering Department and will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Contributing to the implementation of a Ventilation on Demand Automation Project, encompassing both mechanical and electrical disciplines
• Investigating and resolving Engineering Assistance Requests (EARs) in compliance with industry standards
• Supporting the maintenance and organization of the document management database
• Collaborating with cross-functional project teams to ensure effective communication and outcomes
• Assisting with general office tasks and other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

• Be currently enrolled in an Engineering program at a recognized Canadian university
• Demonstrate the ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Possess proficiency in AutoCAD
• Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Hold legal authorization to work in Canada
• Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Automation or relevant experience in Electrical Engineering applications
