You will report to the DC Site Leader and partner with operations to strengthen the EHS culture. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, at least five years’ progressive experience, and knowledge of Ontario safety legislation.

What You Will Get To Do

Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS programs, aligned with the Company’s EHS Management System. Leverage your technical expertise and change management skills to inspire and cultivate a positive EHS culture, empowering leadership to prioritize safety and environmental stewardship. Lead collaborative cross-functional teams to conduct process risk assessments, demonstrating proficiency in evaluating risks and identifying effective risk reduction measures. Facilitate, support and provide updates to local management for incident investigation, employee training, EHS inspections, and audit programs. Implement and maintain a system to ensure compliance obligations by staying current with regulations, while ensuring EHS records are accurately documented, organized, and retained according to company and regulatory requirements. Manage, lead and participate in activities for internal and external stakeholders, including internal compliance audits, external EHS agency interactions, etc. Actively support EHS committee meetings and champion employee engagement in safety and environmental initiatives. Maintain a compliance calendar for all required activities and reporting obligations for the facility. Providing regulatory oversight of the operation and maintenance of pollution control equipment and monitoring devices. Understanding solid and hazardous waste laws and regulations applicable to the facility’s wastes; identifying hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and ensuring the proper management and disposal of such wastes. Working with purchasing and manufacturing to evaluate opportunities for recycling and waste reduction, reducing energy consumption, conserving water and evaluating new raw materials or replacements for existing raw materials. Identifying and implementing EHS training programs for employees and contractors. Coordinating industrial hygiene surveys, safety reviews, hazard analysis, accident investigations, and analyzing trends in injury/illness experience and hazards identified at the facility. Supporting the Senior EHS Manager on Workers Compensation management within the divisions to reduce financial impact. Providing WSIB Clearance letters to meet customer expectations. Supporting Operations by providing EHS documentation, questionaries for third party accreditation or customer requests. Manage EHS data collection, including documentation with accuracy, and following SBD reporting processes. Report, monitor, and analyze data to drive continuous improvement and support decision-making with Site Leadership. Participate in the annual EHS budgeting process, including forecasting, resource allocation, and monitoring expenditures for all EHS-related activities and initiatives. Supporting Facilities in meeting respective Roadmap targets and ensuring managers are aware of their targets and obligations.

Who You Are

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Occupational Health and Safety or other applicable discipline.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in occupational safety, health, and environmental management.

Previous experience in distribution centre is an asset.

Administrative experience related to safety management for facility operations management, including budgeting, training, scheduling, auditing, reporting.

Demonstrated experience in employee coaching and training.

Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety legislation.

Valid driver’s license.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with implementing EHS data management platforms is preferred.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and deliver results on SBD objectives.

Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills in order to liaise with clients, subcontractors & employees.

What You Get

Anticipated compensation for this role is $90,000 - $100,000 in annual base salary. Salary is based on market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
