Product Manager, Group Retirement Savings
Location: Hybrid - Ontario

Empire Life is looking to hire a Product Manager to join our Group Product & Marketing team! The GRS Product Manager will support the Group Retirement Savings line of business. Group retirement plans are a terrific way for employers to support their employees’ saving goals. This is a great opportunity to help grow a new line of business.

Working to grow this nascent business, you will manage all aspects of product management and development as well as being the subject matter expert for the sales team – sometimes developing and leading sales pitches with your distribution partners. This role reports into the VP Group Product and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fully understand the Group retirement savings landscape – competitive offering, how it fits with Group Benefits.
  2. Manage all facets of the group retirement savings business with a focus on plan design and product development, including launching new investment products such as DPSP, RESP, and managing product development pipeline.
  3. Develop and present product proposals and business cases to Senior Management, focusing on market demand, competitive landscape, asset gathering potential, and profitability.
  4. Research, analyze, and understand the competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and market price competitiveness.
  5. Support sales and market development opportunities, including sales strategies, presentations, marketing materials, and pitch decks. Act as the SME and assist in pitching and closing deals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years of experience in product management, development, or plan design in the Group Retirement Savings space.
  2. Knowledge of investment product implementation processes.
  3. Strong analytical skills for profitability analysis, pricing, and KPIs, with proficiency in Excel and pivot tables.
  4. Customer-centric approach with understanding of marketing and customer needs assessment.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of preparing marketing materials, business cases, and strategic plans.
  6. Flexible, adaptable, and willing to handle multiple responsibilities.
