*This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

Position Summary

This role involves exercising independent discretion in handling all types of catastrophe property claims and assisting assigned field offices with day-to-day property claims when not on deployment.

  • This is a work-from-home position and applications are accepted from the entire ERIE Operating Footprint, including PA, NY, MD/DC, NC, VA, WV, TN, WI, IL, IN, OH, and KY.
  • Travel is required, often extensively throughout the assigned territory.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Establish contact with policyholders and assess damages onsite.
  2. Set and manage reserves within authority.
  3. Identify damages, determine liability, and estimate claim value.
  4. Prepare estimates, coordinate with contractors and policyholders, and document all activities.
  5. Decide on claim payments, negotiate as needed, and issue checks.
  6. Supervise independent adjusters and advise on claim handling.
  7. Attend industry training to stay current on legal and regulatory updates.
  8. Assist field offices when not on catastrophe deployment.
  9. Maintain operational readiness of assigned company vehicle.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least five years of claims handling experience, including two in property claims. Knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques. Preferred: AIC certification, proficiency with estimating software, appropriate state licensing, valid driver’s license, and residence within the territory.

Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting/moving (0-50 lbs), driving, occasional pushing/pulling, and climbing. Ability to move over 50 lbs with equipment.
