Job description

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Account Assistant to join our Commercial Insurance Team. The successful candidate will provide administrative support for new and renewal accounts, collaborating with Commercial Account Representatives to ensure client retention and timely customer service. If you enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, this role is ideal for you.

You are a people person who enjoys building long-lasting relationships with insurance carriers, industry leaders, and colleagues. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will enable you to develop effective solutions for our clients.

What You Will Do

1. Support the team with policy changes, renewals, new business, proposals, follow-ups, binders, slips, finance contracts, and document scanning.
2. Pay close attention to timelines for preparing liability slips, memorandums of insurance, and certificates of insurance.
3. Maintain and update documentation in the Broker Management System (EPIC).
4. Manage and respond to emails from the Commercial Account Assistant inbox/queue.
5. Prioritize tasks as directed by the Manager, Commercial Account Representatives, and Commercial Brokering, along with other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

1. Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
2. RIBO license or ability to obtain it.
3. A customer-centric, friendly, and professional demeanor.
4. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proficiency in MS Office products.
7. A professional, responsive, and positive work attitude.
8. Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
9. Experience with Epic is an asset.
10. Designations such as CIP, CAIB, CRM, or working towards them are assets.
