Hours: Part-time or full-time option available (3-5 days per week).
Salary Range: $55,000-65,000 annual salary based upon full-time hours of 40 per week.

Background
The Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging Foundation (RIA) is a charitable non-profit organization that partners with the University of Waterloo, Conestoga College, and Schlegel Villages to enhance care and quality of life for older adults. Through engagement with key partners and collaborators, RIA supports practice-relevant research and knowledge mobilization. Research evidence is used to inform programs, education and training, and influence practice and policy.
Primary Purpose
The Bookkeeper is part of the accounting team and plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll, with a focus on supporting program and project-based financial activities. This position supports the development and execution of internal financial procedures, facilitates regular payment runs, and ensures proper coding and data entry using accounting software. With a strong understanding of project workflows, the Bookkeeper also provides timely support for financial tracking, reconciliations, and reporting. The role requires a high level of discretion in handling confidential financial and personnel records, strong communication skills to coordinate across departments and vendors, and a proactive mindset to contribute to process improvements. This position is an integral part of the RIA team, ensuring sound financial management that directly supports our research and programs aimed at improving the well-being of older adults.
Key Accountabilities
Education: Diploma or degree in finance, accounting, bookkeeping or equivalent experience.

Scope of Work
All researchers, employees and students of the RIA who will work with long-term care homes, colleges, universities and other partners are required to comply with the vaccination policies of those external organizations to complete their work. Of note, vaccination policies are subject to change. The requirement to comply with those evolving policies does not change.
