Director Human Resources

As a strategic partner, the Director Human Resources aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated business units, serves as a consultant to management on human resource related issues, and acts as an employee champion and change agent. Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicates needs proactively with HR and business management, and seeks to develop integrated solutions. Formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the organization’s objectives. May handle international HR responsibilities and maintain a strong understanding of the business unit’s financial position, culture, and competition.

Position Summary: The role involves strategic partnership, HR strategy adaptation, workforce planning, leadership development, and international HR responsibilities, supporting Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Business Partner:
  • Adjust HR strategies to respond to changing needs.
  • Guide business unit restructures, workforce, and succession planning.
  • Partner with leaders to develop future leaders.
  • Identify and measure HR metrics, analyze trends, and develop solutions.
  • Identify new business strategies and talent needs.
  • Conduct regular meetings with business units and provide HR guidance.
  • HR Operations Manager:
    • Establish and communicate organizational culture and policies.
    • Align HR policies with company culture and ensure legal compliance.
    • Monitor employee behavior trends and training needs.
  • Emergency Responder & Employee Mediator:
    • Provide performance management guidance and respond to employee issues.
    • Manage complex employee relations and conduct investigations.
    • Partner with legal as needed and work to improve work relationships and morale.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Hire, train, coach, and develop direct reports.
  • Travel: Travel and driving are not essential duties.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience in resolving complex employee relations issues.
    • Knowledge of multiple HR disciplines and employment laws.
    • Fluency in French required.
