Product Specialist

The Product Specialist is responsible for making product recommendations and collaborating on product design, development, process, and delivery — from idea generation to post-implementation evaluation.

Here is what a typical day looks like:

Program & Product Development (70%)

  • Liaising with Western’s Commercial, Farm, and Personal Lines departments, as well as Insurance Partners, to maximize business opportunities.
  • Consulting with NIO leaders and providing key program and product recommendations to Senior Leaders.
  • Participating in meetings with Insurance Partners to identify product opportunities.
  • Leading or contributing to presentations for employees, vendors, or other partners.
  • Researching market trends and opportunities to develop white-labeled products for Western.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers on stress testing, legal reviews, and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviewing and updating wordings and programs coverage, and communicating changes internally.
  • Analyzing market trends to identify revenue growth opportunities.
  • Developing product guides and internal/external materials with Communications and Marketing teams.

Administration and Reporting (30%)

  • Implementing and managing programs and placement services.
  • Gathering feedback on end-user experience at branch levels.
  • Identifying new opportunities for program development and revenue growth.

The value you bring

  • Level 2 Insurance License.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • 3-5 years of commercial insurance experience is an asset.
  • Inquisitive mindset with the ability to identify trends and ask meaningful questions.
  • Attention to detail, especially in reviewing large sets of wording and building templates.

Hours: Full-time — 37.5 hours/week

Location: Remote — Canada

Salary Range: $60,000 to $88,000
