Job description

The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing mechanical and electrical systems and components of commercial transport trucks.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Journeyman and Apprentice Commercial Truck Transport Technicians to service over 10,000 trucks annually
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components on all commercial transport truck and trailer vehicle systems
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups
• Use OEM-specified diagnostic procedures to identify and repair defects on chassis and drivetrain systems efficiently
• Conduct diagnostic road tests
• Communicate diagnostics and repair plans clearly with supervisors
• Be accountable to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman for all work performed
• Tag warranty and customer parts as required
• Provide training and leadership to Registered Apprentices as a Journeyman Technician
• Participate in all training programs offered by Peterbilt and external vendors
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Secondary school completion
• Four-year Truck and Transport Technician Apprenticeship completion
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience
• Red Seal Trade Certification
• Valid inspection ticket for commercial vehicle inspections (asset)
• Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement (asset)

Compensation Rate

• $46.05 - $51.17 per hour + performance-based bonus
• Additional hourly premiums for Class 3 License and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certification
• Pay rate based on experience, certifications, and skill level
