Job description

Black & McDonald’s Accounting & Finance team is growing! If you are a committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Payroll Administrator is based in Markham, Ontario, with a work-from-home option and a balanced in-office work schedule. The role typically reports directly to the Payroll Manager. The primary focus is on processing hourly unionized payroll under the direction of the Payroll Manager. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Working with unions, interpreting and updating wage schedules, burden tables, and conducting monthly union reconciliations.
  2. Accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing and payments via direct deposit, including new employee setup and handling terminations with ROEs using HRDC WebROE.
  3. Responding to payroll inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for provincial items like WSIB/WCB and EHT.
  5. Annual preparation of T4, RL1, and T2200 forms.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed PCP designation with NPI
  • At least 3 years of payroll experience

Skills, abilities, and other requirements include:

  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Unionized construction experience is an asset
  • Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
