Manufacturing Supervisor – Assembly
The Position Responsibilities Are As Follows
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to actively promoting and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
- Actively promote employee safety engagement through shift start-up and tiered meetings, toolbox talks, QJSA, near misses, and work observation submissions and discussions.
- Maintain a strong focus on 6S and workplace organization. Ensure 5S activities are carried out and actioned upon daily, weekly, monthly.
- Supervise and coordinate Assembly and Surface Finishing operations to meet production requirements.
- Organize daily workload and team member assignments in support of schedule adherence and on-time delivery.
- Implement and drive lean process improvements through coordination with manufacturing engineering and operational excellence representatives in areas such as cross-training, standard work development and auditing, setup and run time reduction, work cell organization, and product flow improvements.
- Ensure all equipment checks and preventive maintenance are completed with any deficiencies reported.
- Be aware of upcoming schedule constraints and plan accordingly, considering part shortages, equipment repairs, and employee absences.
- Identify production bottlenecks and work with team members and manufacturing engineering to resolve them.
- Monitor quality, generate, and action NCRs, and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the team by assisting in hiring, integrating new hires, coordinating staff, and monitoring employee performance. Assess problems accurately, analyze options, and manage issues effectively.
- Communicate and adhere to plan deadlines, intervening as necessary to successfully complete orders on time.
- Participate in training and developing team members' skills, providing timely constructive feedback to enhance performance.
- Promote employee engagement among all team members.
- Foster creativity, participation, and problem-solving capabilities while cultivating a community and respectful work environment.
- Help plan and organize production within the mechanical, hose, electrical assembly, blast, and paint areas, assigning work based on production needs and recommending organizational adjustments.
- Keep track of production activities and report the status of all jobs.
- Monitor equipment availability and operational status to ensure scheduled production targets are met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date standard work instructions and audit to ensure compliance.
- Ensure records such as time & attendance and job paperwork are maintained and approved timely.
- Work within company standards regarding ethics, safety, quality, productivity, and environmental matters.
The Preferred Candidate Will Have
- A demonstrated commitment to promoting a safe work environment and active participation in health and safety programs.
- A post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Training in lean concepts and methodologies, with practical application in manufacturing.
- A proven track record of using lean problem-solving methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Pareto analysis, value stream mapping).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills within a team environment.
