A junior engineer designs and plans processes, tools, and equipment needed for high-quality, efficient planning, construction, repair, testing/commissioning, and delivery of ships. They apply broad theoretical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and/or early work experience. A junior engineer's work is closely supervised, and problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. They are expected to explain facts, policies, and practices related to their assigned job scope across theoretical, practical, and/or lean engineering disciplines in a shipbuilding environment.
As a junior engineer working as part of the Field Service Engineering team, you will provide engineering support to our Production team. Your responsibilities include reviewing the ship's design using 3D models, 2D drawings, and production bills of materials to investigate inquiries. You will collaborate with departments such as Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and other engineering groups to ensure successful production based on ship design information. You will develop engineering change requests as required, including redline drawings, engineering sketches, bills of materials, and related documentation. You may also interface with design agents, material suppliers, and customers to discuss ship design items. You must be able to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment with minimal supervision and work well with engineers across disciplines. Support for inquiries from other engineering disciplines may also be required.
