Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
A Junior Industrial Engineer designs, plans, and executes improvements to processes, tools, workstations, and equipment necessary for high-quality, efficient ship construction, repair, and delivery. The Junior Industrial Engineer works independently, using scientific methodologies to analyze problems, identify root causes, test solutions, and standardize successful outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage proactive scope of work, including developing standardized workstation processes, 5S standards, performance metrics, capacity analysis, total productive maintenance, and overall equipment effectiveness, material flow, and visual management.
  • Author processes and procedures to stabilize and control ship design, repair, and construction processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement within industrial engineering, ship design, repair, and construction.
  • Develop mitigation plans for risks and manage change associated with core activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement, standardization, and mitigation projects, employing technical problem solving and stakeholder management.
  • Engage in research and development activities.
  • Manage change processes effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, Project Management, maritime regulatory authorities (e.g., LR, TC, IMO), and industry standards (e.g., ASME, IEEE, ASTM).
  • Ability to model and analyze systems to illustrate input-output transformations and value addition.
  • Project management training or certification (optional).
  • Training or experience in lean/six sigma or other improvement methodologies (optional).
  • Understanding of industrial or project management environments focused on operational performance improvement.
  • Ability to read blueprints, navigate 3D ship models, develop and markup drawings, prepare presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, conduct investigations, and draft statements of work for subcontractors.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for complex issues with stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional problem-solving from technical and business perspectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to make risk-based technical decisions.
