The Senior Product Development Manager is responsible for managing, planning, and implementing research and development projects for the Liberté or Yoplait brand. They lead an R&D team, ensuring that development projects align with market needs, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.
Responsibilities :
R&D Team Management :
- Lead, mentor, and manage an R&D team composed of product developers (R&D specialists) and technologists.
- Develop a skill development plan for team members by providing continuous training opportunities and fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
- Ensure optimal allocation of human and material resources necessary for the timely completion of R&D projects.
New Product Development :
- Oversee the creation of innovative yogurt recipes, considering consumer expectations and market trends.
- Ensure technical and sensory validation of new products.
- Stay up to date on new ingredients and technological innovations to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Supervise pilot trials and prototype development to test product feasibility before industrialization.
Continuous Improvement of Existing Products :
- Implement reformulation actions to meet consumer demands, optimizing quality, texture, taste, shelf life, and nutritional characteristics.
- Collaborate with quality and production teams to ensure stability and repeatability of formulations on a large scale.
Production Process Supervision and Industrialization :
- Work with production teams to ensure the successful scaling of R&D innovations to industrial production while maintaining product quality and performance.
- Participate in optimizing manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency and product quality.
Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory Compliance :
- Ensure that all new products meet quality standards, food safety regulations, and local and international regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with nutritional standards, health claims, and dairy product labeling regulations.
Technology and Innovation Monitoring :
- Continuously monitor new technologies and product innovations in the dairy industry, particularly in yogurt, to keep the company at the forefront of innovation.
- Identify and assess new ingredients and processes that could differentiate the company’s products in the market.
- Participate in conferences, trade shows, and collaborations with research centers to stay informed about technological advancements in the dairy sector.
Required Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in R&D within the food industry, with expertise in dairy products, particularly yogurt.
- Experience in managing R&D teams and complex projects.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively, make strategic decisions, and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills (French and English).
