Business Development Manager

The Role

This position involves representing MCAP to the Mortgage Brokerage community within a specified territory. The primary responsibilities include retaining and growing existing business with current MCAP-registered brokers/agents, and developing new business with brokers/agents not yet registered with MCAP. The Business Development Manager will be accountable for achieving specific annual targets related to funded volume, including net new origination and refinance, with secondary targets based on other business priorities set by the VP, Sales. The role is primarily remote, with travel required to brokers in the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario, and MCAP offices. A valid driver’s license is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and manage the “Optimal Broker Experience”
  • Create awareness of MCAP products among new Mortgage Brokers through presentations and meetings
  • Position products and services effectively
  • Increase results with existing MCAP Mortgage Brokers
  • Identify needs and opportunities, and develop plans to address them
  • Utilize sales and marketing programs to add value, such as the Mpoints loyalty program
  • Negotiate commitments on volume with brokers
  • Assist in registration and profile creation for new brokers, maintaining information in Salesforce.com
  • Identify and contact potential new brokers, setting up presentations
  • Educate new brokers on products and programs
  • Build and maintain professional relationships, encouraging open communication
  • Hold brokers accountable to volume and funding metrics
  • Conduct scheduled meetings with agendas, broker scorecards, and co-agent reporting
  • Attend industry events and trade shows

Marketing

  • Create and implement campaigns to drive business
  • Communicate regularly via Salesforce.com regarding rate updates, incentive programs, policies, education, and service levels

Planning

  • Develop annual territory and account plans
  • Manage expenses prudently
  • Create a work schedule with appointments and presentations
  • Identify the broker’s business style and attributes to foster relationships
  • Follow up on leads promptly to increase customer base

Reporting

  • Maintain broker information in Salesforce.com
  • Complete KYC profiles for Submission Agents
  • Log daily activities and promotions in Salesforce.com

What You Bring To The Team

  • Minimum 5 years sales experience, preferably in Financial Services, or at least 2 years underwriting experience
  • Results-oriented, creative, and innovative
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build trust and relationships
  • Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Web-Ex
  • Self-motivated, independent, and team-oriented
  • Knowledge of mortgage broker networks and industry trends
  • University Degree; AMP or relevant courses preferred
