Engineering Project Manager, P.Eng - Civil – Barrie (100% on site or on the road)

  • Salary 95-110K annual
  • 50% of travel to USA which requires a Canadian passport or have a proper VISA to enter the US.
  • P.eng registration is a must
  • Valid drivers license.

The role will be working in office Monday – Friday 8 : 30am to 4 : 30pm when not on the road.

Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the development designs for projects, day-to-day oversight of a team of civil technologists, estimation and quotation, contract review, drawing reviews and MOL applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform complete project reviews including SOW, appropriate volume and cost calculations, execution schedules (guidance), design review prior to bid and release of quotes.
  • Assist in managing multiple AGC projects in their entirety :

o Management of each project process (tender specifications, drafting, review of technical contracts, material orders, staffing project installs, scheduling contractors and follow up). o To analyze contracts for any technical discrepancy, omissions and any additional submissions that may be required.

o To answer client and engineering issues, that may arise during the completion and after completion of the contractual agreement. Advises customers on use and care of products and provides advice concerning specialized products or services.

o Approve internal engineering review, installation project designs and reports.

o Ensure final designs, as-built drawings, manuals, .and QA documentation are in order prior to shipping, installing, or sending to client.

o Ensure compliance with project plan and procedure requirements are met.

o Provide professional engineering stamp on applicable Ontario drawings and other provinces as required.

o Conducting, director or lead site inspections and feasibility assessments as needed.

  • Manage and coordinate of the civil team through coaching techniques, ensuring open communication and organization, and integration of new staff.
  • Ensure proposed designs satisfy all safety, technical, operational, commercial, maintenance and quality requirements defined in specifications, standards and practices and applicable regulatory codes, prior to submission to the Director of Engineering.
  • Participation in annual strategic planning and budgeting processes.
  • Collaborate with the Director, to maintain / establish, evaluation and approval of protocols, policies and procedures and tools relating to the technical process and project management to streamline and improve the overall process.
  • Contribute to new and revised product development, formulation and specification of these products and plant trials.
  • Maintains communication with sales and oversees the review of technical calculations prior to tender bids and quotes.
  • Maintain knowledge of all products availability, the product applications, product benefits and pricing structures.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Completion of a University degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline).
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience within a civil engineering role (EIT inclusive).
  • Professional engineering registration with the professional Engineers Ontario (or other Canadian provinces) and with good standing record.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills.
  • Strong knowledge and thorough understanding of Microsoft Office suite and Project Management.
  • Strong knowledge in computer aided design software’s (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D).
  • On-site experience and exposure work, in a construction industry.

  • Learning all relevant government regulations and codes.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and safety for the projects.
  • Finding solutions to problems and producing presentations to showcase them.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to motivate others by example and attitude.
  • Previous work experience with ISO 9001, preferred.
