Job summary

Mac’s II Agencies is a leading manufacturers’ representative specializing in lighting and electrical brands in British Columbia. We seek a Distributor & Contractor Sales Representative to grow our business across Vancouver Island, focusing on relationships with electrical distributors and contractors.

You will promote core brands, support product selection, and seek opportunities for retrofit and small projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of sales experience in electrical, lighting or construction.
• Experience working with electrical distributors or contractors is a strong asset.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of field-based territory management.
• Highly organized with time management and territory planning skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and strengthen relationships with electrical distributor branches across Vancouver Island.
• Engage distributor branch managers, counter staff, and outside sales teams.
• Conduct product training sessions and counter days to educate distributor teams.
• Build relationships with electrical contractors focusing on service work and small projects.
• Support contractors with product selection, substitutions, and guidance.
• Conduct site visits to identify opportunities and promote contractor-friendly solutions.
• Drive demand for locally stocked products through distributor partners.
• Identify new business opportunities and support inventory programs.
• Collaborate with internal teams to follow up on quotes and opportunities.
• Attend manufacturer trainings and industry events to maintain product knowledge.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Distributor & Contractor Sales Representative to support and grow our lighting and electrical business across Vancouver Island. This role focuses on developing strong relationships with electrical distributors while actively calling on small to mid-sized electrical contractors to drive demand for key stocked products.

You will work closely with distributor partners to promote core lighting and electrical brands, support contractor product selection, and identify opportunities for retrofit and small project applications. This is a highly customer-facing role suited for someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting the electrical trade, and creating new opportunities within the distribution channel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and strengthen relationships with electrical distributor branches across the Lower Mainland, promoting key stocked lighting and electrical product lines.
• Engage distributor branch managers, counter staff, and outside sales teams to increase awareness and adoption of core products.
• Conduct product training sessions and counter days to educate distributor teams on features, applications, and advantages of represented brands.
• Build relationships with small and medium-sized electrical contractors, focusing on service work, tenant improvements, and small commercial projects.
• Support contractors with product selection, substitutions, and application guidance.
• Conduct jobsite and contractor office visits to identify opportunities and promote contractor-friendly solutions.
• Drive demand for products that are stocked locally through distributor partners.
• Identify new business opportunities and support the development of distributor inventory programs.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely follow-up on quotes, project opportunities, and customer requests.
• Attend manufacturer training sessions and industry events to maintain strong product knowledge and market awareness.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of sales experience, preferably in the electrical, lighting, or construction industry.
• Experience working with electrical distributors or electrical contractors is considered a strong asset.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated and comfortable managing a field-based sales territory.
• Highly organized with strong time management and territory planning skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

• The territory covers Vancouver Island in it's entirety
• Regular travel within the region is required.
• Occasional evening events, training sessions, or industry functions may be required.
• A valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
