This is an opportunity to play a key role during the construction phase of complex building projects. Acting as the design team's representative on site, you'll help ensure electrical systems are installed in accordance with the engineering design, project specifications, applicable codes, budget, and schedule while working closely with contractors, consultants, clients, and project stakeholders.

You'll join a collaborative Construction Administration team supporting commercial, institutional, civic, and other complex building projects throughout Metro Vancouver.

What You'll Do

As the Electrical Field Representative, you'll oversee the electrical aspects of construction administration from tender through project closeout, helping deliver high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the design intent.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular field reviews to verify electrical installations comply with drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and design intent.
  • Coordinating with contractors, engineers, architects, owners, utility providers, authorities having jurisdiction, and other consultants throughout construction.
  • Reviewing electrical shop drawings, product submittals, and contractor substitutions for compliance, constructability, and suitability.
  • Managing construction administration documentation, including RFIs, site instructions, change orders, progress claims, deficiency tracking, commissioning activities, and project closeout documentation.
  • Identifying construction issues, documenting deficiencies, and recommending practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Participating in commissioning and functional testing of electrical systems.
  • Monitoring change orders and contractor substitutions, including associated cost impacts.
  • Supporting QA/QC initiatives while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with contractors, trades, consultants, and clients throughout each project.

You’ll regularly work with building systems including:

  • Emergency and standby power
  • Low-voltage and communications systems
What We're Looking For

We’re interested in experienced electrical construction professionals who have developed a strong understanding of commercial building systems and enjoy working collaboratively to solve technical challenges.

Candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, provided they bring strong electrical construction experience and are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders throughout the construction process.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Approximately 8+ years of electrical construction experience with significant field exposure.
  • Red Seal Electrician certification or AScT designation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial, institutional, or complex building electrical systems.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with construction administration processes, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, site inspections, deficiencies, commissioning, and project closeout, is considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with contractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they impact the project.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality and professionalism.

This position combines office-based work with regular visits to active construction sites throughout Metro Vancouver. You’ll spend time both in the office and in the field collaborating with project teams and contractors. No extended travel is required beyond local project sites.

  • Salary: $86,900 - $126,000, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement savings program
  • Employee Share Purchase Program
  • Generous paid vacation and personal time
  • Professional membership reimbursement
  • Tuition assistance and ongoing professional development
  • The opportunity to work on some of the region’s most interesting building projects alongside a highly respected multidisciplinary team
