Job summary

Skillhub Solutions Inc. in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Dispatcher to act as the operational link between drivers, internal teams and customers using GFL's software. You will coordinate real-time route support, manage service orders and resolve day-to-day service challenges.

Responsibilities include scheduling, dispatching based on driver locations, data entry, and cross‑department collaboration. Weekend availability and strong communication are required for this role.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in transportation, dispatch or customer service preferred; dispatch experience is an asset.
• Strong TDG knowledge and familiarity with waste manifests.
• Hours-of-service regulations knowledge is an asset; able to multitask and communicate.

Responsibilities

• Schedule service and adapt to customer changes according to policy.
• Dispatch calls to routes based on routes and driver locations.
• Check in drivers and review route sheets for data accuracy.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve issues.
• Handle inbound calls and emails; troubleshoot delivery issues.
• Assist in determining daily driver staffing to balance responsiveness.
• Record driver information and distribute to appropriate departments.
• Communicate with maintenance shop and provide support.
• Be available for urgent weekend calls and relay information to teams.

Position Summary

As a Dispatcher, you will serve as the operational link between drivers, internal teams, and customers. You will coordinate real-time route support, manage service orders, and resolve day-to-day service challenges. Using GFL's proprietary software, you will track productivity, record service data, and collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Schedule service and accommodate customer service changes, ensuring service follows established policies.
• Dispatch calls to routes based on assigned routes and driver locations.
• Check in drivers at the end of the day and review route sheets and paperwork for accurate data entry.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve service issues and clarify responsibilities.
• Handle incoming customer calls and emails; troubleshoot potential delivery and pickup problems.
• Help determine daily driver staffing levels to balance responsiveness and productivity.
• Record information from drivers and distribute it to the appropriate departments.
• Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and provide additional support as assigned.
• Be available to answer urgent weekend calls and relay information to the appropriate teams.

Requirements

• One to two years of experience in transportation, dispatch, or customer service preferred; dispatch experience is an asset.
• Strong understanding of TDG requirements and waste manifests.
• Knowledge of hours-of-service regulations is an asset.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace programs, including Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
• Strong customer focus, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Advanced software application skills, accurate word processing, and adequate typing speed.
