Job summary

CommerceLink Logistics, a division of Canada Cartage, is seeking a dedicated Dispatcher to join our Calgary team. You will coordinate shipments, communicate with drivers and clients, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining accurate shipment records and proactive updates.

This fixed-term contract involves use of transportation management systems, data entry, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced logistics environment. Weekend shifts and flexible scheduling may apply.

Qualifications

• Previous dispatch or transportation coordination experience (preferably in trucking/logistics).
• Computer skills, TMW experience, Microsoft programs, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.
• Plans and schedules for drivers to ensure proper staffing across all shifts and loads, ensuring alignment with volumes and service expectations.
• Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments and manage logistics operations.
• Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date records of shipments and inventory.
• Monitor freight movements and address any delays or discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with other dispatchers and management team
• Maintain a high level of phone etiquette when interacting with clients and team members.
• Compiles data on incidents and accidents, distributes and communications with appropriate personnel.
• Assist in the shipping and receiving processes as needed.
• Follow all CommerceLink Logistics policies, procedures, and safety standards

Position Summary

Skills & Competencies

• Awareness of Highway traffic act including hours of service, TDG, weight restrictions etc. (would be an asset).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in using trucking software for data entry and shipment tracking.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information over the phone, including written (reports) Emails.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
• Knowledge of transportation management systems is preferred but not mandatory.
• Intermediate keyboarding skills using a PC and knowledge of email, word processing and Excel spreadsheet experience.
