Job summary

TST-CF Express, a long‑standing leader in LTL freight, seeks a Dispatch Supervisor to oversee planning, dispatching and local pickups/deliveries, with preference for experience in a unionized environment.

Shift hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You will manage dispatch operations, coordinate drivers, process requests, maintain logs, and ensure accurate, timely service while upholding company policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and dispatch experience preferred.
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities required.
• Experience in a dispatch/call center or logistics environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations on the Dispatch Center and dispatch communication processes, procedures and people.
• Maintain and execute the daily dispatch plan to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of outbound load execution.
• Receive and process transportation requirement requests from customers.
• Provide accurate directions for pickup and delivery services.
• Schedule and dispatch workers to appropriate locations according to requests, or needs, using radios or telephones.
• Create and change dispatcher's schedules as dictated by demand and performance.
• Continually monitor workloads throughout the department and actively pursue additional resource when justified.
• Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to coordinate service and schedules.
• Discuss and resolve issues with drivers concerning package questions, on-call status, assignments, etc.
• Breakdown, verify and process driver delivery paperwork.
• Maintain accurate up to date information on delivery equipment so that drivers will know what they are driving and what is available for use at any given time during the dispatch shift.
• Generally, maintain an open and effective communication with delivery personnel to insure fairness and clarity of understanding.
• Create and maintain logs necessary to perform quick checks and assessments to ensure the highest quality.
• Respond to complaints with thoroughness and accuracy.
• Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as required

We are currently looking to hire Dispatch Supervisor who will be responsible for the planning, dispatching and managing of the local pickups and deliveries. The candidate will have industry experience, preferably within a unionized environment.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience with dispatch/call center environment an asset
• Transportation industry knowledge and experience an asset (i.e. shipping/receiving, scheduling, freight)
• Microsoft Software proficiency - Outlook, Excel, Word
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
• Able to work well under pressure
• Flexible, able to deal with change
• Strong attention to detail
• Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
