Job summary

OOCL CANADA INC. is seeking a Dispatch Representative in Etobicoke, ON to coordinate dispatches, monitor truck moves, and ensure timely service. You will liaise with suppliers, customers, and the operations team to resolve issues and schedule shipments.

The role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of import/export processes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. This is a full-time on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dispatch or logistics is preferred.
• Familiarity with import/export procedures and government regulations is advantageous.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch system generated Job orders to Trucking Vendors.
• Handle and monitor various truck moves and ensure timely appointments.
• Track dispatches to meet cut-off dates and customer needs.
• Escalate issues to management and coordinate with customers as needed.
• Collaborate with operations regarding supplier performance and power availability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Within our organization, Dispatch Representative is in the Operations department that works directly with terminals, rails, depots, motor carriers and suppliers in the region daily. Specifically, Operations is ensuring all equipment is in good order and moving timely. This is accomplished through the use of internal systems for planning and monitoring equipment flows, managing empties to booking ratios, ensuring empty availability for vessel repositioning, while making sure no equipment is idling in the region.

Dispatch Representative Job Responsibilities:

• Dispatch system generated Job orders to various Trucking Vendors.
• Handle/monitor various truck moves.
• Monitor all dispatched job orders to ensure appointments are made, last free day adhered to and cut off dates met.
• Communicate all items not meeting OOCL requirements directly to Supplier and as needed escalate to Department Management.
• Communicate with the customer service team for any shipment related items that needs Customer involvement.
• Communicate with our operations group regarding any concerns or shortcomings related to supplier performance/power availability.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication

Preferred Skills:

• Customer relations telephone techniques, ability to multi-task
• Experience with store door process and import/export process
• Understanding of government rules and regulations
• Intermodal operations

The annualized base compensation for this position is $47,000.00 CAD to $53,000.00 CAD excluding fringe benefits. If hired at OOCL Logistics, the final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we also consider internal equity as part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.All full-time employees enjoy these outstanding benefits, while in a safe, friendly, clean, business casual office environment.
