Job summary

COSCO SHIPPING Canada invites applications for a Road Transport Team Dispatch Coordinator to optimize container fleet movement and manage daily truck dispatch. Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, intermodal operations, dispatch, or supply chain operations preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily dispatch activities for WB MLB shipments and provide backup support for EB cargo dispatch operations.
  • Review Last Free Day reports and follow up with trucking partners.
  • Generate and analyze daily ISM reports to support dispatch planning.
  • Prepare rail storage and terminal demurrage reports for management review.
  • Compile weekly ingate volume reports and operational performance metrics.
  • Monitor carrier allocation to ensure MLB container volume aligns with targets.
  • Collaborate with COSAG and internal stakeholders to optimize West Coast export cargo movements.
  • Provide backup operational support for Oakland MLB shipments as required.
  • Monitor vessel schedules and use TMS queries to support cargo planning.
  • Dispatch containers to trucking providers and coordinate container movement.
  • Maintain communication with trucking partners for timely pickup and movement of containers.

Job description

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Canada) Inc. is a leading global ocean carrier with a rich history in the Canadian market. The company is launching a brand-new operations centre, COSCO SHIPPING NAOC – North America Operation Center, in Toronto, and we are seeking organized Road Transport Team (RTT) Dispatch Coordinators to optimize our container fleet movement. In this role, you will manage daily truck dispatching, track ocean container movements, and coordinate directly with drivers to ensure efficient port drayage operations.

This is a full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week reporting to the Senior Manager of RTT Department of NAOC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily dispatch activities for WB MLB shipments and provide backup support for EB cargo dispatch operations.
  • Review and monitor Last Free Day reports, proactively following up with trucking partners
  • Generate and analyze daily ISM reports to support WB MLB dispatch planning and execution.
  • Prepare rail storage and terminal demurrage reports for management review and approval.
  • Compile and distribute weekly ingate volume reports and operational performance metrics.
  • Monitor carrier allocation and ensure MLB container volume is distributed in accordance with established carrier allocation targets.
  • Collaborate with COSAG and internal stakeholders to advance West Coast export cargo movements and optimize service performance.
  • Provide backup operational support for Eastbound and Westbound Oakland MLB shipments as required.
  • Monitor vessel schedules and utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) job order queries to support cargo planning by designated rail ramps.
  • Dispatch containers to trucking providers and coordinate container movement
  • Maintain regular communication with trucking partners to ensure timely pickup, delivery, and movement of containers.
  • Perform shipment tracking and tracing activities and provide status updates for in-transit cargo.
  • Release and manage job orders to trucking providers while ensuring operational accuracy and timely execution.
  • Monitor container availability and verify that are customs-cleared, released, and ready for pickup.
  • Review ramp reports, aging reports (TER412) to identify and resolve service issues.
  • Partner closely with Import Customer Service teams to ensure service excellence
Skills/Requirement
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, intermodal operations, dispatch, or supply chain operations is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work varying start and end times, including statutory holidays, as required to meet operational and business needs.
