Our individuals living at our "Hawkmount" group home are looking for a Community Support Worker to assist with their daily needs. The expected diagnoses for the individual include cerebral palsy, severe developmental delays, dementia, scoliosis, blindness, and deafness. Individuals may display physical behaviors of concern, and behavioral support plans will be provided to help achieve their goals. The position requires full support for hygiene routines, meal preparation, program activities, house chores, grocery shopping, and medication administration. The role also involves driving across Calgary to attend medical appointments, sporting activities such as swimming, etc.
About You:
You are compassionate, attentive, and passionate about working with people with disabilities. You are comfortable providing full personal care, participating in social and recreational activities, advocating in the community, and encouraging healthy living and social interactions. You have a good knowledge of community events and activities that could benefit the individuals. You are professional, take ownership, and are willing to follow agency policies and procedures. You are solution-driven, able to identify support needs, and willing to understand and act in the best interest of the individual while maintaining professional boundaries. You have previous experience working with individuals with disabilities and are willing to research, develop, and implement growth programs. You can manage administrative work to build rapport with the individual.
This permanent position is 40 hours/week at our "Hawkmount" group home in Northwest Calgary. The schedule is either Sunday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or Tuesday to Saturday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The starting pay rate is $21.19 per hour, with potential raises after the annual evaluation. After three months, you will be eligible for cost-shared health and dental benefits and 5 flex days. Mileage reimbursement is $0.50/km for driving.
