Job summary

Department of Opportunities and Social Development (Nova Scotia) is seeking a DSP Team Lead to guide a local team in delivering inclusive, human-centred disability support programs within Sydney and surrounding areas. You will recruit, onboard, coach, and manage staff while building partnerships to maximize community opportunities.

The role emphasizes guiding teams through the new DSP framework, advocating for human rights, and ensuring equitable service delivery and collaboration with community

Qualifications

  • Strong relationship management skills to partner with the community members and within your local area to develop and implement individual-specific services.
  • Leadership skills to help your team navigate through changes aligning with the new DSP framework.
  • Collaborative work experience to work alongside other Team Leads in maintaining equitable and standardized process for selection, onboarding, coaching and management of team members.
  • Skills in interpreting information, particularly pertaining to the DSP remedy, and providing expert guidance for program delivery and compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy for conflict resolution and navigation in ambiguous situations.
  • Understanding of the challenging circumstances faced by individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, and an awareness of the compounded impact of intersectionality on their experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a dedicated team and ensure delivery of high-quality, inclusive, human-centred programs within the region.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and manage team performance and discipline as needed.
  • Coach and develop staff; manage change and professional growth.
  • Build partnerships within communities and promote local, people-centred services.
  • Foster inclusive practices and authentic professional relationships across workplace and community.
