Job summary

CORE Association in Medicine Hat, Alberta, seeks an individual to support the well-being of a person with developmental disabilities. You will help them achieve goals, model positive behavior, plan activities, provide personal care, and assist with lifts/transfers as needed.

Responsibilities include implementing growth programs, problem solving, and promoting life skills like cooking, cleaning, and daily documentation. Some training will be provided; flexible scheduling is required.

Qualifications

• Clear Police Clearance (Vulnerable Sector) within 6 months or newer.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
• Access to a vehicle with $1,000,000 insurance and ability to transport clients.
• Good written and verbal communication; sound decision-making.
• Flexibility in schedule; prior field experience is an asset.
• First Aid and CPR and Pro-ACT or crisis training would be an asset but can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the individual in achieving goals and building natural supports in the community.

• Plan recreational and leisure activities to promote growth.

Job description

Supporting the well being of an individual with developmental disabilities by participating in helping the individual achieve their goals, creating natural supports in their community, role modelling, planning recreational & leisure activities, personal care, lifts and transfers,implementation of programs that help support the individual's growth, problem solving, along with promoting life skills such as cooking, cleaning and daily documentation.

Requirements

• Clear Police Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check and 6 months or newer) is required.
• A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
• Access to and use of a vehicle for all shifts with a minimum of $1,000,000 insurance and with the ability to transport clients is required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound decision-making skills.Ability to work well as a team member.
• First Aid and CPR, Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT), crisis intervention training, medication delivery, abuse reporting protocol would be an asset but if the candidate does not have this specific training, it will be provided.
• Previous experience in this field would be an asset.
• Must have flexibility in their schedule.
