Join to apply for the Director, Property Taxation role at Oxford Properties Group.

We are seeking a highly motivated Director, Property Taxation to join our Canadian Asset Management team in Toronto. This key role involves developing and maintaining a comprehensive property tax strategy to identify potential savings across various properties in Canada. The candidate will collaborate with asset managers and finance teams to implement strategies and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain property tax strategies, identifying savings opportunities.
  2. Work with teams to identify and mitigate tax-related risks.
  3. Manage appeals, negotiate assessments, and review settlement proposals.
  4. Oversee external consultants for complex appeals and legal matters.
  5. Provide tax forecasting and scenario analysis for leasing and capital projects.
  6. Conduct reviews and briefings on tax initiatives, deadlines, and risks.
  7. Prepare reports and presentations on tax positions, appeals, and savings.
  8. Act as the in-house expert on property tax queries, advising on acquisitions and developments.
  9. Stay informed on industry best practices and network with peers.
Qualifications:
  • Thrive in evolving organizations with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of ARGUS is an asset.
  • Degree in Commerce, Finance, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in property valuations, tax assessments, and strategies across multiple sectors.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
