Job description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and manage clinical operations at our behavioral health facility. The DON will oversee nursing staff, ensure high standards of patient care, and maintain compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards. This leadership role is vital to maintaining a therapeutic, safe, and efficient environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the nursing department.
  • Supervise and support nursing staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure individualized, evidence-based patient care.
  • Monitor staffing levels, schedules, and workflows to ensure effective coverage.
  • Ensure documentation and reporting comply with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in audits, surveys, and inspections.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current, unencumbered RN license to practice in the state
  • Previous experience in Behavioral Health/Psychiatric Health nursing

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Leadership experience in an inpatient Behavioral Health/Psychiatric Health setting
