Job summary

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services in La Ronge, SK, is seeking a Dietitian to provide consultations, counselling and education to LLRIB members and communities to improve nutritional health.

You will complete assessments, develop meal plans that consider cost and preferences, deliver education sessions, and report client progress, working with Home Care Manager and Diabetes Nurse Educator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Dietetics or related field.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Dietetic Association or Dietitians of Canada.
  • Experience delivering and facilitating nutritional programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders and to work as a team player.
  • Cree language ability is an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments to evaluate client health needs and diet.
  • Counsel clients on nutrition and healthy eating habits.
  • Develop meal plans considering cost and client preferences.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of meal plans and adjust as needed.
  • Deliver and facilitate nutrition education sessions and programs.
  • Provide written reports documenting client progress.
  • Other duties as assigned by Home Care Manager.

Job description

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is looking for a Dietitian for the Community of La Ronge to provide consultations, counselling and education services to the LLRIB membership and communities in order to improve and protect the nutritional health of their members.

About the position

Complete an assessment to evaluate client’s health needs and diet; Counsel clients on nutrition and healthy eating habits; Develop meal plans; Providing on-going evaluation of the effects of meal plans and making changes as needed; Develop and deliver education sessions on topics related to food and nutrition; Deliver and facilitate nutrition programs; Provide written reports to document client progress; Other duties as assigned by the Home Care Manager.

Duties
  • Working with the Home Care Manager & Diabetes Nurse Educator to develop maintain nutrition programs;
  • Complete assessments to client health needs and diet;
  • Counsel clients on nutrition & healthy eating habits;
  • Develop meal plans, taking both cost & client’s preferences into account;
  • Promote healthy eating by better nutrition by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition & relationship between good eating habits & preventing or managing specific diseases;
  • Maintains liaison with Community & other related Agencies Organizations, Teachers, Physicians & Hospitals;
  • Providing written reports to document client progress;
  • Performs other related duties assigned;
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition, Food System Management, Clinical Nutrition or related field;
  • Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Saskatchewan Dietetic Association & or the Dieticians of Canada;
  • Experience in delivering & facilitating nutritional programs;
  • Strong verbal & written communications skills;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision;
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders & to work as a team player;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license & be able to travel extensively;
