Job summary

Lanark Community Alliance is seeking a Developmental Services Worker Trainee to work alongside experienced staff and learn the responsibilities associated with the Developmental Service Worker profession. The role emphasizes personal care and support for individuals in their daily activities, promoting community participation and implementing behaviour management strategies.   • Support individuals in daily living activities including meal preparation and feeding.

  • Document daily activities and progress on Agency databases.

Developmental Services Worker Trainee – Carebridge
DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES WORKER TRAINEE

Carebridge Community Support is a non-profit organization with a goal of empowering individuals, strengthening connections and making a lasting impact in Lanark County.

The Development Services Worker Trainee works alongside permanent Residential Counsellors, Residential Counsellor Aides and Team Leads to learn about the Developmental Service Worker (DSW) profession while supporting the team to implement Person Centered Programs in accordance with each person’s individual needs and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The DSW Trainee will learn about many of the DSW responsibilities through mentorship and will work closely with trained staff to assist with:

  • Providing personal care such as bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding, dressing and housekeeping.
  • Supporting individuals to participate fully in their communities.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to reduce challenging behaviours.
  • Establishing good rapport with individuals, staff, families, and friends, acting as an advocate for each person supported.
  • Documenting daily on Agency databases.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Interest in a Two-Year College Diploma in the Developmental Services Worker program, or another related post-secondary training program.
  • Strong team player who excels at building trusting relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of ethical standards and confidentiality.
MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • A Clear Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector within the last 6 months.
  • Certification and ability to perform First Aid, CPR, and CPI (training provided by employer).
