Save-On-Foods is hiring a Department Manager, Restaurant at our Woodgrove Nanaimo location. This full-time role involves leading a department, coaching a team, ensuring customer-first service, and driving sales while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will manage merchandising, training, scheduling, and KPIs, with emphasis on growth and customer loyalty in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Food Safe Certification.
• Post-secondary education in business related field is an asset.
• Experience achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Experience executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (training, development, coaching).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department with coaching and a positive team environment.
• Deliver operational excellence in customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicate key messages and business objectives to team members and align with goals.
• Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs.
• Analyze department HR metrics and dashboards.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Lead inventory counts and end-of-period activities and resolve issues.
• Perform all duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in hot/cold environments.

We are hiring for a Department Manager, Restaurant at our Woodgrove Save-On-Foods location in Nanaimo, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with: Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
