Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Langford, BC, is seeking a Department Manager, Bakery, to lead the bakery team and drive exceptional customer service. The role emphasizes coaching, safety, merchandising, and achieving sales targets in a fast-paced store environment.

The successful candidate will have 1–3 years of retail leadership experience, Food Safe Certification, and preferably a related business education. This is a full-time on-site role with strong growth opportunities and competitive incentives.

Responsibilities

Department Manager, Bakery - Langford, BC

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Successful applicant must have open availability.

Responsibilities

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.

Experience and Knowledge

• Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
