Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Coquitlam, BC is hiring a Department Manager, Deli. This full-time role is 40 hours per week with open availability. You will lead the department, coach the team, and drive exceptional customer service while maintaining health and safety, merchandising, and stock levels to meet goals.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of retail experience, Food Safe Certification, and proven leadership ability. Experience with sales targets, training, scheduling, and HR activities is an asset.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• Post-secondary education in a business field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with: Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Leading the department, coaching and mentoring the team.
• Delivering operational excellence in customer experience and safety.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training and recognition.
• Communicating key messages and objectives to department staff.
• Reviewing financial reports, identifying performance improvements, and presenting KPIs.
• Analyzing department HR metrics and dashboards.
• Supporting strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts and end-of-period activities.
• Performing all duties including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varied environments.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Deli at our Austin Save-On-Foods location in Coquitlam, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
