Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Port Hardy, BC, is hiring a Department Manager, Produce to lead the department and coach the team toward Always Customer First service.

You will drive operational excellence in customer experience, health and safety, and merchandising, while reviewing KPIs, training staff, and growing sales and customer loyalty in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification required.
• Post-secondary education in a business-related field is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability, merchandising plans, and HR activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, acting as coach and resource while fostering a customer-first culture.
• Ensure operational excellence in customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engage and retain team members through training and performance management.
• Communicate key messages and department KPIs to staff and management.
• Review financial reports and present KPIs to management.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Lead inventory counts and period-end processes; resolve issues.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Produce at our Save-On-Foods location in Port Hardy, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging andretainingteam members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and businessobjectivesto team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports,identifyingopportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/periodend of the department and resolving issues asrequired.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50lbs), standing forlong periodsof time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in abusiness relatedfield is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g.training, development,coachingand mentoring).
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiencywith computer applications.
