Job summary

Save-On-Foods in North Lethbridge, AB, is hiring a Department Manager, Grocery. This full-time role requires strong leadership to coach a team and drive customer-first service while maintaining safety and merchandising standards.

You will oversee financials, KPIs, and HR processes, ensuring sales growth and staff development in a fast-paced retail environment. Visual merchandising and efficient scheduling are key parts of the role, with physical demands including lifting up to 50lbs and exposure

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of retail experience.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • Post-secondary education in a business-related field is an asset.
  • Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Merchandising plans and in-store displays to drive sales.
  • HR training, development, coaching and mentoring.
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the department as coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
  • Deliver operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
  • Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
  • Communicate key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review and analyze financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs to the management team.
  • Analyze business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
  • Support implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
  • Lead inventory counts/period end of the department and resolve issues as required.
  • Perform all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting up to 50lbs, standing for long periods, and working in hot/cold environments.

We are hiring for a Department Manager, Grocery at our North Lethbridge Save-On-Foods location in Lethbridge, AB.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:
  • Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.

You have:

  • Experience and/or knowledge with:

    • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
    • Human Resources (e.g.training, development,coachingand mentoring).
    • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
    • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Proficiencywith computer applications.
