Job summary

Save-On-Foods is seeking a Department Manager, Grocery at our Cumberland location in Saskatoon, SK. This full-time role leads a team, drives customer first service, and ensures safe, profitable store operations.

You will manage staffing, coach teammates, monitor KPIs, and execute merchandising plans to grow sales and loyalty while maintaining health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of retail experience.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • Post-secondary education in a business-related field is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the department, acting as coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
  • Deliver operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
  • Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
  • Communicate key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs to management.
  • Analyze business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
  • Support with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
  • Lead inventory counts/period end of the department and resolve issues as required.
  • Perform all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing long periods, in hot/cold environments.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Grocery at our Cumberland Save-On-Foods location in Saskatoon, SK. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
  • Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.
You have:
  • 1-3 years of retail experience.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
