Job summary

LeverageTek Staffing Solutions in Ottawa is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst for a permanent, full-time role. The position requires on-site work four days per week at the customer headquarters in the Greater Ottawa Area.

You will monitor security alerts, investigate threats, conduct forensic analysis, and lead incident response efforts using Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Purview, and Azure security tools. A CISSP or equivalent certification is highly preferred, with a 80k-95k CAD base salary plus

• 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity or Cloud Security with demonstrated hands-on incident response experience.
• Strong SIEM experience, with Microsoft Sentinel preferred (Splunk or QRadar acceptable).
• At least one recognized cybersecurity certification, CISSP strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft security solutions including Azure, Office 365, EOP, and Microsoft Purview.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze security alerts from Defender, Sentinel, and EOP.
• Investigate and respond to phishing, malware, compromised accounts, and insider threats.
• Conduct forensic analysis and threat hunting using Microsoft Purview and Azure tools.
• Lead end-to-end incident response — identify, contain, eradicate, and document threats.
• Develop and execute incident response playbooks for cloud and email security incidents.
• Coordinate with IT and security teams to remediate threats and ensure business continuity.
• Manage security controls and policies in Microsoft 365 Defender and Azure Security Center.
• Ensure GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST compliance via Microsoft Purview Compliance Manager.
• Implement and optimize email security policies to minimize phishing risks.
• Configure and monitor Azure AD Conditional Access policies and mitigate risky sign-ins.
• Secure privileged access using Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
• Implement Data Loss Prevention policies and insider risk policies using Microsoft Purview.
• Monitor and respond to potential data exfiltration attempts.

Key Tasks

Key Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity or Cloud Security with demonstrated hands‑on incident response experience
• Strong SIEM experience, with Microsoft Sentinel preferred (Splunk or QRadar will be considered)
• At least one recognized cybersecurity certification, with CISSP strongly preferred

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Security solutions including Azure, Office 365, EOP, and Microsoft Purview
• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Azure/Entra ID, and Exchange Online Protection
• Familiarity with email security, phishing detection, and incident response best practices
• Knowledge of PowerShell and KQL scripting for security automation is an asset
• Additional certifications such as AZ-500, MS‑500, SC‑200, or CEH are an asset
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and naturally curious with strong investigative instincts
• Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions during active security incidents

Compensation $80,000 – $95,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus up to 15% performance bonus This is an existing position vacancy.
