ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Global Transport and Customs & Trade Compliance Organization (GTC) is the center of expertise for the global transport and customs network. It sets the strategy, frameworks, guidelines and provides functional expertise in network design across the global supply community and with the logistics community in the regions. It has the responsibility to identify and manage projects that deliver added value to the business in terms of Cost, Performance, Quality, Service, Compliance and Sustainability in relation to Transportation and Customs & Trade Compliance.

The GTC – Trade Compliance & Optimization team provides customs and trade compliance expertise to the regional sites and transport network and drives governance across regions. It translates global compliance and optimization targets into regional framework and guidelines to support operational continuity. This includes standardization of global key tasks (classification, embargo control, automation), implementing periodic controls and coordinating global projects. Its primary goal is securing compliance and monitor governance while also contributing to supply chain optimizations. The Trade Compliance Team is part of the Central Customs & Trade Compliance Team and works in close connection with a.o. functions such as Customs operational leaders, Tax, Finance, Procurement, Regional Logistics, Manufacturing, IT and Customer Service to seek alignment on best practices including data collection and analytics.

THE ROLE

Coty is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Global Customs and Trade Compliance team as Senior Customs Compliance Specialist. Your will support day to day operations regarding customs activities from Coty supply chain’s network in the Americas, more specifically to Canada and US to secure operational continuity and compliance with regulations and business requirements.

The Senior Customs Compliance Specialist is a team player with an analytical approach to challenges and a high sense of urgency. You will be part of the global team having focus on classification and free trade agreement qualification while coordinating import and export to/from US and Canada market.

You will also manage the relationship with broker as well as monitor KPIs and provide periodic reporting to the leadership team.

This role requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders (including customs authorities), most often managing several project parts simultaneously. You will be working very closely with the Global customs & trade compliance community and centralized customs & trade compliance capabilities (including global customs and trade compliance system).

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Proactively manage day-to-day customs processes

  • Liaise closely with our business stakeholders for alignment and support on present and future initiatives

  • Support on customs scalations (e.g. coordination between SPOCs, brokers, carriers and other internal and external stakeholders regarding daily shipments)

  • Identify, report and register incidents as well as follow up on implementation of corrective controls

  • Assist on classification of new products as well as determining origin for preferential treatment purposes (e.g. FTAs USMCA, USAUS, KORUS, etc)

  • Processing customs related payments in our systems

  • Collecting and collating relevant customs data from sites and brokers (scorecards)

  • Procuring certificates of origin from our vendors

  • Support return shipment preparation from Canada to US

  • Support customs related projects

  • Manage relationships with customs authorities

  • Own customs & trade compliance framework including SOPs

QUALIFICATIONS

We’d love to see candidates who have:

Essential:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Logistics or related field

  • Experience related to customs processes in Canada and the US preferably in business areas involving manufacturing and distribution

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Sound understanding of customs processes including determination of origin and classification

  • Structured, reliable and autonomous working style

  • Sound analytic skills and knowledge of Excel

  • Solution-orientated behavior

  • Team player and able to build a good network both internal and external

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and multicultural environment

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of MIC modules CUST, OCS, Classification or any other Global Trade Management software is a plus

  • Fluent in English, other language is a plus
