Job summary

Squamish Nation is seeking a Health Care Assistant to provide compassionate, culturally safe, and relationship-centered care in clients' homes within the Squamish community. The role supports daily living activities, maintains safety and dignity, and works with nurses and therapists to deliver person‑centred care.

The position is permanent part-time, requires 1–3 years of related experience, and involves occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Long Term Care Aide, Home Support, Residential Home Care Attendant, or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Responsibilities

• Implement Personal Care Plans and provide individualized support.
• Assist with personal care activities (bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility).
• Operate mechanical lifts and mobility supports for transfers.
• Support clients with chronic illness and provide palliative care as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe home environment per care plan (cleaning, sanitizing, laundry).
• Coordinate medication administration when delegated by a nurse.
• Monitor client well-being and report changes to the care team.
• Collaborate with nurses and other care providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain confidential client records and respect privacy.
• Provide health advocacy and connect clients with resources and services.
• Participate in community events and health programs.
• Follow workplace safety policies and contribute to the Health and Wellness team.
