Job summary

Senior Helpers Vancouver is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Registered Care Aide) to provide in-home support and compassionate care for seniors. The role focuses on helping with daily living activities while coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Qualified candidates will have an HCA program, BC Care Aide Registry registration, and at least 1 year of experience; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation.
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team.
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely.
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements.
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (minimum 1 year)
• Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days
• A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
