CREWING SCHEDULER

Swartz Bay

The opportunity

Working as part of a dynamic, results-driven team, you analyze, plan, and schedule work assignments for all shipboard and shore-based staff. You ensure crewing services meet operational requirements and company objectives through accurate, cost-effective, and timely staff planning and scheduling services in accordance with operational policy, collective agreements, and regulatory rules for vessel and shore positions.

The Role
  1. Implement schedules and staff assignments prepared by crewing officers/advisors, cross-checking as required.
  2. Generate and control timesheets and crew lists accurately and promptly.
  3. Maintain excellent customer service skills and positive relationships with employees, resolving problems and issues effectively.
  4. Handle short-term absence and replacement requests to ensure crewing profiles and terminal staff allocations are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
  5. Support long-term planning functions for leave programs.
  6. Monitor and forecast staffing needs, preparing accurate schedules for monthly implementation.
  7. Operate effectively in high-pressure situations, including short-term crewing activities such as employee placement to meet operational needs.
What You Bring To The Team
Education and experience
  1. High school diploma, supplemented by some post-secondary education.
  2. 1-3 years of experience in a complex unionized environment.
  3. Experience with staff scheduling systems is an asset.
Knowledge and competencies
  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain effective working relationships.
  2. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  4. Ability to multitask, manage multiple problems simultaneously, and recognize potential issues, with a desire to improve processes.
Job Details
  1. Hours of operation are 04:15-20:00, 365 days a year. As an on-call relief employee, shifts may vary, including early mornings and afternoons.
  2. Due to early shift start times, access to transit may not be available; access to a vehicle is required.

Additional Information

The target salary range is $55,700 - $69,600. The starting salary depends on the candidate’s knowledge, experience, and internal equity. Exceptional candidates may start above the target range.
