Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Utilizing a variety of computerized applications, the Scheduler is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of healthcare services delivered in the community. This includes developing, preparing, and adjusting schedules based on referrals, care plans, and applicable collective agreements, as well as providing direction to staff.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience

Grade 12, Office Administration Certificate, recent related experience of two years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, such as post-secondary courses in healthcare or social services, or other qualifications deemed reasonable and relevant to the role.

Skills and Abilities
  • Keyboard at 50 wpm.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work within multiple deadlines.
  • Operation of related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
