A leading energy company in Saint John, NB is seeking a Corporate Communications Specialist to develop internal communications strategies and engage with various departments. The ideal candidate will have a university degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience, with strong writing skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. This dynamic role involves creating effective communication materials and maintaining a positive corporate image.
As a Corporate Communications Specialist, you will work specifically in the areas of internal communications and support the areas of external communications and social media. Developing strong, thoughtful communications strategies for our internal and external audiences provides interesting work that is different every day, as our Corporate Communications team collaborates with departments across our business – from our refineries in Saint John, NB, and Whitegate, Ireland, to our retail and strategic program delivery teams.
Working as a collaborative team player with a keen sense of curiosity, this Corporate Communications Specialist position focuses on the development of internal communications materials and experiences that drive engagement and connect teams. You will also support our company’s culture through reputation management, relationship management, issues management, crisis communications and community programming. Your success will help ensure all communications activities are aligned with Irving Oil’s corporate priorities in support of the strategic objectives of the business and brand organization.
Participate in the development of strategies to address corporate communications issues impacting our business and work collaboratively with various teams to inform, advocate and consult as required.
Develop and execute detailed communications plans, including planning events and activities, that lead to a consistent and meticulous experience for all involved, ensuring consistent, effective and integrated approaches.
With strong writing as a key skillset, develop materials which not only represent our company’s brand voice, but also demonstrate creativity, attention to detail and talent for storytelling.
Build relationships with key internal stakeholders across the company to support various initiatives by understanding their needs and developing internal communication proposals that will achieve their objectives.
Provide direction and guidance to multiple internal stakeholders regarding appropriate internal communication tactics and assist with the execution of these tactics.
Develop clear, timely and effective employee communications striving for relevant, informative, inclusive content that touches all aspects of the company.
Excellent written and verbal communications, analytical and research skills, with an understanding of business principles and drivers. Strong grammatical and editing skills with a desire to produce flawless written materials.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid, multi-tasking environment with an extreme attention to detail and an enthusiastic attitude.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills that lead to consistently positive interactions and the ability to form trusted relationships.
Strong knowledge of Canadian Press Style guidelines is considered an asset.
Digital competency using online / multimedia channels and strong technical skills related to online tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and email marketing software.
Ability to build trust and confidence with internal stakeholders through professional interactions, integrity, and maintaining confidentiality.
University degree in a related discipline (e.g. Public Relations, Communications, Journalism.)
Three to five years of progressive experience, including at least four years in a similar role; energy industry or journalism experience preferred.
