Job summary

Sobeys Inc. in New Brunswick is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to manage third-party carriers, oversee preventive maintenance, and coordinate logistics for the Sobeys fleet across our distribution network.

You will work with drivers, service providers and internal teams to ensure on-time deliveries, safety, and cost control, with opportunities to grow into broader supply chain duties. Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills are essential; experience in warehousing,

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience in warehousing, transportation or logistics.
• Experience in retail logistics or a distribution centre is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or certificate in Supply Chain/Logistics/Business Administration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage Third Party Carriers to ensure company standards are followed.
• Coordinate third party maintenance for the Sobeys Fleet.
• Coordinate third party truck washing services.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules on equipment.
• Troubleshoot with drivers on equipment problems.
• Document costs and monitor fleet performance.
• Set up and monitor new drivers in all systems.
• Investigate accident/incident claims and drive cost reductions.

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing mechanics and third-party services responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of all trucks, trailers and equipment in the Sobeys fleet.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Manage Third Party Carriers to ensure company standard requirements and policies are being adhered to
• Coordinate third party maintenance for the Sobeys Fleet
• Coordinate third party truck washing services
• Follow preventative maintenance schedule on equipment
• Troubleshoot with drivers on equipment problems
• Check and inspect equipment for repairs
• Conduct annual commercial vehicle inspections on all equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
• Monitor fleet, identify issues with fleet and send issues to attending service providers.
• Monitor response times, repair times.
• Document costs.
• Set up and monitoring of new drivers in all systems.
• Monitor unassigned hours, driver HOS and other
• Investigate accident/incident claims.
• Reduce costs.
• Strong communication skills and Business relationship with carriers and service providers.
• Enforce yard management.
• Flexible to learn other functions in the Transportation office.
• Other duties as assigned

Educational and Working Experience:

Required:

• Minimum one year experience in warehousing, transportation or logistics
• Experience working in retail logistics or a distribution centre

Preferred:

• Bachelors Degree/Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or combination of education and related experience

Technical Skills

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Good communication skills (both oral and written)
• Demonstrated successful ability working with cross-functional teams
• Planning and organizing skills
• Good working knowledge of equipment repair methods
• Experience with the following systems is an asset: TMS, Samsara, SAP and EXE system.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
