Job summary

Sobeys Middleton Retail Support Centre in Middleton, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a Truck Driver to deliver orders and support store networks across Canada. You will operate company vehicles safely, maintain documentation, and uphold a strong safety culture while providing excellent service to customers.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of tractor-trailer/straight truck experience, a Class 1 license, and the ability to lift heavy loads.

Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience driving a tractor-trailer and/or straight truck.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving loads as required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer orders or pick up merchandise in company vehicles.
  • Maintain proper documentation for shipments.
  • Keep equipment in good working order and report damages.
  • Ensure loads are secured and delivered quantities match orders.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and driver SOPs; maintain professional appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Truck Driver will deliver customer orders or pick up merchandise by operating the company vehicles in a safe and expeditious manner. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

Ensure that the proper documentation is maintained

Maintain equipment and report any damages, necessary repairs, or malfunctions

Drive transport truck or straight truck in a safe and respectful manner

Ensure merchandise loaded in vehicle is stowed in a safe and damage-free manner

Ensure case-count delivered corresponds with order, pick up credit, or damaged product

Always maintain good working relations with customers through cooperative attitude and well-groomed appearance

Exercise good driving manners and taking precautionary measures during inclement weather conditions

Follow the instructions outlined in the driver SOP and pay attention to detail

Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements

Responsible for all other duties assigned by manager

What you have to offer:

Accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the case-count delivered corresponds with the order

A proventrack record of superior customer service skills

Two to threeyears' experienced driving a tractor-trailer and/ or straight truck

High School Graduate

Class 1 Driver's License

Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching

Two-person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

Alertness to other people and vehicles

Various shifts including evenings and weekends
