Job summary

Simon Fraser University is seeking a Coordinator, Student Recruitment for the Beedie School of Business undergraduate programs. The role delivers recruitment visits, events and presentations on campus and in the community, advising prospective students and coordinating with admissions and other units.

  • Plan, execute and assess recruiting visits, events and presentations on and off campus.

The Student Recruitment unit supports and guides prospective undergraduate students throughout the recruitment life cycle, from initial inquiry to admission. Our goal is to deliver a positive, seamless applicant experience by maintaining a student-centered approach in all aspects of our work. We operate as a highly integrated team, working in close partnership with key undergraduate service units, including Admissions and Enrollment, Academic Advising, and Student Experience. Through these partnerships, we ensure a consistent, coordinated approach to supporting students at every stage of their journey.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Student Recruitment delivers day to day recruitment programming and initiatives in order to achieve enrollment targets for the Beedie School of Business, Undergraduate Programs. The Coordinator plans, executes and assesses recruiting visits, events and presentations at a variety of on-campus and off-campus educational, community, and professional settings in consultation with the supervisor. The position advises and recruits prospective students, and supports internal and external recruitment stakeholders, undertaking the research, data analysis, and stakeholder management necessary to successfully achieve recruitment and enrollment targets. The position also acts as a referral agent to other Student Services departments and SFU faculties.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and three years of related experience in post-secondary student recruitment, program advising, professional sales management, business development, marketing, or public relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Must have valid drivers' license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Knowledge of best practices, initiatives, current research and thinking in student enrolment management, and ability to assess their relevance and application to the Beedie School of Business.
  • Understanding of Canadian secondary and post-secondary systems.
  • Understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion requirements.
  • Excellent public speaking skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex information and influence key stakeholders through effective presentations.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, facilitation, training, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive, productive relationships with diverse groups of people including academic leaders, managers, Faculty, staff, future students and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and ability to understand, interpret and apply policies and procedures, admission requirements, and strategic enrolment management objectives and goals with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proven critical thinking, conflict resolution & collaborative decision-making skills, and the ability to handle sensitive issues competently and discreetly.
  • Ability to work independently and deal with ambiguity and competing demands with minimal supervision, while exercising mature judgment, initiative, diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to research, compile, and analyze data for reports to support strategic decision making and evaluate effectiveness of ongoing activities and new initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student data and records.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
