Job summary

Canadian North is seeking a Coordinator, Commissary & Catering to support onboard product, catering, and commissary programs across the airline network. You will assist with planning, sourcing, inventory, and vendor coordination while upholding safety standards and quality control.

Qualifications

  • Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset; Inuktut ability is a definite asset.

Job description

Position Summary

The Coordinator, Commissary & Catering assists with onboard product, catering, and commissary programs, ensuring compliance, quality, and reliability across the airline network.

What You'll Do
  • Ensuring safety is the primary objective by adhering to the Canadian North safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization;
  • Ensuring continual improvement through the periodic review of all processes;
  • Assisting the Manager, Catering & Inflight with ordering and distribution;
  • Assisting with the overall planning, development, control and evaluation of all onboard product, including menu design and costing; galley equipment, catering equipment, loading logistics; service standards and procedures and quality and reliability processes;
  • Assisting with sourcing, purchasing and inventory including but not limited to, catering equipment and supplies; commissary; passenger entertainment materials; cabin service items;
  • Ensuring all third-party vendors are fully briefed and compliant with applicable Transport Canada and Company requirements and all related training & are HACCP certified;
  • Assisting with the sourcing, purchasing and ordering processes for Third Party vendors;
  • Providing vendors and suppliers with product forecasts and general product issues;
  • Assisting with determining and communicating loading logistics of all onboard products, including but not limited to, catering equipment; galley equipment; commissary; dry stores; children's amenities;
  • Assisting with ensuring galley specs are current;
  • Assisting with menu development, with a focus on the customer, competitor service; market and budgetary requirements;
  • Coordinating and maintaining the charter operation network wide
  • Main contact for all charter related tasks such as monitoring the charter flight schedule, communicating with the charter department and coordinating and executing all charter catering;
  • Assisting with responding to In-flight Reports relative to catering and onboard product in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring liquor control licensing and compliance of applicable liquor and gaming laws are maintained;
  • Promoting superior employee relations by encouraging open communication and cooperation of all vendors and suppliers;
  • Investigating all Catering and OTP irregularities pertaining to onboard product and coding;
  • Ensuring that the reporting of accidents, incidents or hazards are reported appropriately and within a timely manner;
  • Assisting with safety investigations;
  • Conducting audits or assisting with audits;
  • Conducting risk assessments and root cause investigation;
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of corrective actions plans
  • Conducting workplace inspection as required by the Safety Department;
  • Remain knowledgeable in the scheduled flight operation with the ability to participate as directed by the Manager, Catering & Inflight Product
What You'll Bring
  • High School diploma or equivalent related work experience;
  • One (1) year of previous experience;
  • Relevant airline experience considered an asset (e.g. passenger/ramp handling, catering, charter operations, flight attendant etc.);
  • Must be fully proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point);
  • Previous experience with inventory distribution and control;
  • Operational knowledge/understanding of cargo load control, aircraft limitations and ground handling services would be an asset;
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with strong time management skills;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills for internal/external customers and contacts;
  • Exceptional organizational, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work in a physical environment that will require frequent bending, pulling, pushing and lifting of catering equipment and/or commissary products;
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and display a high level of initiative, creativity and enthusiasm;
  • Must be able to work irregular hours to meet demands of charter operations including weekends, holidays and on call, as required;
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required;
  • Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset;
  • NFSTP (National Food Safety Training Program) an asset, or ability to obtain certification;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
